I have the impression that this activity is the one that is fomenting its study and installation in other countries such as Belgium, Spain and even Byelorussia.
It continues surprising me the scarce activity in Germany, country that has a suitable technological base for the development of this project, I recommend you to read carefully the last paragraph of this article . In my opinion one of the decisive factors to explain this situation is that the CNIL, after the rejection to the project of MAAF, defined a normative frame to which the projects should be held, while the BfDI, after its alarm sign has not end up defining the conditions that a project of this type should complete. It is doubtful that any insurance company invests in a commercial product without having clear the juridical bases on those that it settles its investment.
Meanwhile Progressive continues expanding its project gradually in different USA states, receiving a great support of multiple institutions committed with the environment and being accompanied by projects of diverse nature. I am surprised that nobody in Europe is inspired by the technical solution contributed by Progressive because I believe that it is the most suitable base for a project led by an insurance company who wants to reach a significant penetration level in the market, owing to its little interference in regard to the privacy, in spite of having the necessary elements to evaluate the risk satisfactorily and to influence in the habits of the drivers.
The technical documents published recently that I will mention are an analysis of the linking between driver wellness and safety and an article on the cost for a company of the road accident of its workers. For those that understand Spanish I recommend them that they discharge an old Power Point presentation with MP3 audio channel, that exposed the situation of the project until 2006.
