Subject: “Pay as you drive” Information
Dear ladies and gentlemen:
Finally, there were almost 1.800.000 the citizens that signed a letter requesting the English government the suspension of the project Road Charge, something specially significant if we keep in mind that in England there are 30 million drivers.
But, in spite of this rejection the government continues maintaining this project as an indispensable step to be able to brake the congestion of the traffic that, otherwise would reach collapse proportions in the next years.
On the other hand the environmentalist organizations expose that the problem of the traffic congestion is ridiculous in comparison with that of the climatic change and that this last one will demand radical changes in the form of life of the developed countries.
Everything seems to show that in Europe and North America, it will be necessary to wait until the situation still gets worse so that the citizens begin to accept a project of the type Road Charge. Only in these circumstances the political leaders will dare to impose it and this can be happening in more than one decade
The positive part of this failure is that it eliminates the uncertain of which is the technology that would use the project Road Charge, something what was blocking the development of some projects “Pay as you drive” for the fear for using some solutions that are not compatible and that will be soon obsolete.
With regard to the patents, they will also dissappear the uncertainties once it seems clear that Progressive won’t get finally that its first patent is recognized in Europe and that the rights of the patent EP 0700009 in Italy, Spain, France and Germany, will be auctioned jointly next month of May. It is of foreseeing that the company that acquires them has the intention of developing the project and that doesn’t make it like a merely defensive strategy with regard to its competitors.
If in the CEBIT of the last year could attend some shy presentations of different projects “Pay as you drive”, this year seems that it will be one of the central topics.
Also the fact that Berginsights has still presented the revision of the recent strategic study on “Car Telematics and Wireless M2M” seems to verify the expectations that these topics are unchaining.
Everything seems to indicate that at the end of this year all the companies with interests in the project “Pay as you drive” in Europe will have made the necessary decisions to be well positioned in this market, and that in great way we will know which are the agents that will participate in its development.
I have found a very interesting photographic report on the German system of Road Charge for industrial vehicles.
Some readers had communicated that they didn’t receive my mail. The problem is that my mail server mailhost.terra.es figures in some database as Spam generator. Until Telefónica solves the problem I will use my mail of Google.
I have upgraded my database Pay as you drive directory.
If somebody wants that their address is erased of my distribution list, please return me this message with the word “DELETE.”
Yours sincerely.
